VCAA supports the education and preservation of a UNESCO-recognized practice related to the Viet beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms. Activities include presentations, cultural celebrations (demonstrations), and educational programming that explain the historical, spiritual, and artistic significance of these practices.
The temple was first formed in Vietnam in 1965 by Phan Thị Gái and Lương Nghĩa. Their descendants have continued the stewardship of the temple to its present state in Tigard, Oregon. The temple is dedicated to Đạo Mẫu or Mother Spirit practice, and is designated an intangible cultural heritage practice of Vietnam by UNESCO.
Temple ceremonies are typically held in private by the family, with exceptions throughout the year.
